The only coffee cup made from coffee grounds that meets all standards
To bring a product that contains food (like a plate or cup) to market, you must meet various requirements. The material (raw materials) from which the product is made must be "foodsafe," and those same raw materials must be listed on an EU-published list. The author has often been negative about various raw materials from which it is difficult to mold a plate or cup. Often, some form of plastic is still used as a binding agent. Additionally, many of those biobased raw materials are not on the aforementioned EU list. Lisanne Addink-Dölle, founder of the company Coffee Based, called me to explain why her coffee and tea cups—and other products made from coffee grounds—do meet all standards. A meeting was quickly arranged.
